Does anyone still have one of these?  lol... I do.

I think I'm going to throw General Chaos in and play it.  Just reminded myself to make sure the batteries are out so they don't corrode..

Yes!!!  :)
I grabbed one of those things when it hit the shelves many years ago. Also picked up a Ni-cad battery which snaps on the back. But it no longer holds a charge. Good while it still lived. Lot better than alkalines. I use an ac adapter now-a-days. For some reason I have never tried rechargables.

I use my Nomad to try out a new game when I first receive it. Might even play through the first level then I am ready for the big screen.

Didn't the Nomad have a short battery life? I want to pick up one so bad but I can't justify the price. A good bit of what I used to love on the Sega just isn't fun to me anymore.

On the left is the battery case that housed 6 AAs, on the right is the rechargable 1600mAh Ni-MH. Both gave you around, maybe, 3hrs play time. To me it is horribly bulky having to snap this to the back of a supposedly portable which seems to already weigh a ton. But I loved it back then so much because I had my Genesis in my hand. Glad it was not compatible with the 32X.  ;)

The rechargable battery was bulkier than this.

The rechargeable battery is crazy big!  So... what's the life expectancy like?  I know Ni-MH batteries have a tendency to crap out faster if you do not deplete and then recharge.

I just use the 6 AA's.... but it eats those like candy lol.

Too bad this wasn't compatible with the 32x... I remember testing this out by the way :D

Yep, I have a couple. One I need to install a new LCD into, the other will be kept for parts. I've seen people modify those rechargeable battery packs with Li-ion batteries. With a modern LCD they could last a decent amount of time.

BLUEVOODU

Now that's pretty cool - Are they doing this as purchase mods?  Or is this just a user decided to try and they got it to work?

Very interesting people have accomplished this... especially the Lithium Ion batteries.

I still have mine. Picked it up on ebay with the AC adapter. There's no way in hell I was going to be changing batteries out of that thing. Mostly to play in bed anyways.

LOL... why not?  IT only eats 6 batteries an hour :D  /sarcasm.

CreepinDeth

lol, actually, rechargeable batteries are much better now so I might give it a go. But that AC adapter is a game changer.  :D

I just missed a Nomad on Ebay for a BIN of $85... the price was so low I questioned it, then by the time I talked myself into it someone had scooped it up.

Still on the lookout for one of these!

CreepinDeth

I got really lucky when I got mine. I paid about $60 with around 10 games.

targetrasp

That's amazing, it starting to get difficult to find 10 games under 60 anymore

BLUEVOODU

I know.  That's a ridiculously good deal.  Good score!

Did it have a case of the plague on it and you had to kill off the extremophiles?

CreepinDeth

It did not, fortunately. It was fairly clean when I got it. No muck or anything. I still wiped it down with a clorox wipe as I do with any used things I receive though.  :)

LOL... speaking of the plague arriving on stuff... I once had a trade-in I immediately sent back.   It looked like someone chewed up graham crack (mushy with spit), rubbed it all over their hands,  and played with their controller and console .... and other stuff in the box.

At least... I want to visualize graham cracker because I don't want to think what else it could be.
