Did everyone see the PlayStation 5 Announcement?   What are your thoughts?

My 1st thought is ... the system looks like a dusting nightmare  ;D

Here are a couple cool links:

I'm pretty excited.  I don't know if I Can get this 1st day or not at this point.  IF you're planning on pre-ordering... I Will get the links up from amazon in the near future once the proper links are available.

Thoughts?  Comments?  POST IT UP!

The hardware reveal does not disappoint.  I like that the controller takes ques from the basic DualShock design and does add a bit of the xbox 360 style controller curves.  It looks like it will have a bit more beefiness for more adult hands than some of the older PlayStation controller designs.

The curvature of the console makes sense.  One of the problems going back as far as the NES was damage due to someone putting a beverage on top of the box.  The vertical or horizontal orientations will help it fit in to various A/V entertainment set ups too.

With the advancements in SSD storage and retrieval, the PS5 is expected to be able to make things happen in a smooth way that has not been previously available.  I still adore how games like the original Castlevania: Symphony of the Night used a bridge-like room while the next area was loading into memory.  It was a work-around for keeping action and agency in the hands of the player while sneaking that load time into the background.  With the PS5, load times should be close to non-existant.

I still have my working PSone, PS2, PSP, and PS3 (slim with 240 GB SSD upgrade).  I expect that I am entirely skipping the PS4 and getting a PS5 a few months after the initial release.

From the second video, the hardware and accessories all look prime!  I am definitely thinking the disc drive version would be preferred for me.  I expect that Blu-Ray, DVD, CD media compatibility will be standard.

Exactly ... this looks really cool.  Initial estimates show this console is going to be huge. I wonder if that will translate well to the true-to-life size.

I'm pretty pumped for this console. I will be opting for the unit with the optical drive.  I also like the backwards compatibility... but I heard maybe not all games will be available at first.  Probably a ton of articles on that now.

Overall...  I'm pumped!
