I discovered this hack of Streets of Rage 2. Of course someone put it on a cart and put it up on AliExpress. I had to have it. It made me dig my original Sega Genesis out of the closet. I had been using a Hyperkin clone to play my Genny carts. But this would not play on a clone console. This thing has all original characters replaced, chibi, with great animation. It is Streets of Rage 2 all new again. Been playing this thing and having a ball.

I do not intend you to watch this all the way through. Just thought it would give you an idea of what I am talking about. And I do think that you can download this for other consoles from their shops, like for example Switch.

LOL... that's interesting.  I see this more and more.  Have any companies ever gone after developers that do this?  Or is this not considered "bad" by gaming companies anymore?

It seems that Nintendo is the only aggressive gaming company that comes down hard on this kind of stuff. I have seen no backlash over the years for anything like this concerning games from other sources other than Nintendo. Usually it is free download so there is no profit to run in emulation. But if you purchase an item like this that has been placed on a cart from AliExpress of course they are making a profit. But that is the only way I would have something like this so that I can play it on original hardware.
Fight'n Rage is available from the Nintendo Switch store, $19.99, but they have changed the game's appearance so much that it is not recognizable enough to claim it is Streets of Rage 2. Gameplay is still a side scrolling beat'm up.

There are other Streets of Rage hacks out there featuring different characters such as Street Fighter, Final Fight, Batman, etc. I have one that features Kurenai as a playable character. Kurenai is from Sengoku 3 a Neo Geo game. I plan on picking up all of the variations just for the fun of being able to play these other characters. As long as I can find them on AliExpress I will gradually pick them up and add them to me collection.

I apparently own Fight N Rage on Steam.  :o Must've been through some humble bundle and didn't realize what I got.

It's definitely not the one in this thread with the SoR2 levels. However, a lot of the reviews are saying it's better than Streets of Rage 4, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I might have to try this out.
