@CreepinDeth Could you check again while we are in the current mode with the forum?  Please let me know if you have a better result with the alerts or not.

The next in the Marvel series was released earlier this year.  Captain America: Brave New World was the next installment of not only Captain America... but also Marvel.

This movie is well done - in my opinion.  It somewhat follows after Captain America and the Winter Soldier.   Ross is now played by Harrison Ford.. and appears to be trying to change the way he's been in the past.   It seems he's trying to make things right.

Obviously (from trailers) ... you know the Red Hulk is involved.  Anthony Mackie is now Captain America (as you know from Captain America and the Winter Solider).  There are other comments and tie-ins from some of the older movies like The Hulk from 2008.

This is a well done Movie - in my opinion.   Has anyone else checked it out?  What do you think?

Thoughts, Comments... post it up!

General Discussion / Picard - Is An Awesome Series
March 29, 2025, 09:14:24 PM
Late to the party?  Sure.  We got a really good deal on the complete series of Picard Blu-Ray!

The series is really really good.  Ratings were not favorable for the 1st 2 seasons.  Honestly... I really liked them.  Outside a couple oddities, I don't see what the fuss was.  The 3rd season is so far really awesome as well.

We had an older Topic a few years back:
Star Trek Picard - is it good?
There were a couple good comments at the time.

How many have seen this?  Have you gone back and re-watched?

Thoughts? Comments?  Post it up!!

I feel a little crazy... I know we are talking about your machine here in another post, but I thought I replied to this thread as well  ???

$60 is a pretty good steal.  I was not fond of MacBooks up until the last 3 months.  More to come from that on a separate topic.  They take a bit to get used to coming off Windows and Linux... but I could say the same about Linux coming off of Windows.  It's just something to get used to... and it's cool to have MacOS, Windows whatever and several Linux variants that I'm comfortable now using as a daily driver.   NO LIMITATIONS lol  ;D

Since your OS expired... it might be time to look at Linux if you cannot get a newer OS with current security upgrades.  It sucks to get to that point... especially on the Apply Ecosphere where the devices can last longer (IMO).   I'm becoming a little more fond of Apply MacOS and the Ecosphere of iPhone and iPad ... especially combined.

Quote from: CreepinDeth on March 25, 2025, 02:08:24 AMLinux has been my daily driver for a few years already. I do have a few Windows machines (my gaming PC and a couple of laptops) due to work but I haven't really needed to make those machines my daily driver. There is the odd thing here and there. For example, just today I had to format a USB stick to NTFS because I wanted to transfer some Xbox screenshots. It's nuts that Microsoft requires NTFS just to move some files around but it's required for the console to see it.

@CreepinDeth - yeah.. that's why I was asking if @retro junkie was using it as much as you LOL.  ;D

I am working on making a MacOS topic... there are some really cool things about MacOS. Especially once you get to the integrations between your phone and iPad if you have one.  Obviously, there are additional limitations.  The sound is amazing on these new guys... more to come.

Quote from: retro junkie on March 26, 2025, 11:31:59 PMi am presently using my Macbook Pro mid 2012 to type this. It is running MX Linux based on DEBIAN. I use it daily. I also use my chromebook daily. I have a Mac Mini late 2012 running Sanoma 14.7.4 using Opencore-Patcher on an SSD with 16 gig ram. That is my desktop. I am seriously thinking about switching it over to Linux when the updates run its course on Sanoma. But that is still undecided.

Let us know how that goes... that is pretty interesting.

I need to setup a new linux daily driver as well... I have an old small form factor desktop that I'm going to create a Rocky Linux Image machine.  Then I'm going to use that to create a Rocky image to run as my daily driver.  I'll create a new topic on that as well.

I am working on a tech idea website... more information to come.  Technically I've had the name for a LONG time.  I've been trying to start this idea since before we did World9-3 podcasts... IE 2007.  Just can never seem to get a good entry point.  Life changes lately have me accelerating some of this.  We may also start the podcasts back up under the CDG name.  Totally off topic here, but some of these topics reminded me

man... I just checked that out.  I've been flirting with selling a good portion of my collection.  Just not sure yet, but putting hard thought on that topic. :o

The Ice Blue system was really cool... it wasn't that expensive.  It was one of those glory days type memory... where you could walk into a Target and there would be an awesome discount on awesome merchandise.  It was before the mass Ebaying and other things like that.

@targetrasp dangit man.  Just do eeeet.

And go for moose tracks ice cream WHILE watching LOTR Season 2 :great:

LOL ... yeah... crazy after this many years. They are available now, but price wise, they're not really coming down.   The PS5 Pro is pretty costly as well.  I've read a bit on it, but not sure it's worth the extra $200.

Quote from: Grindspine on March 13, 2025, 05:20:45 PMAh, I didn't know that Sackboy had struck out to spinoffs of the Little Big Planet franchise!

Yeah!!  It's a really fun game, especially if you are a fan of the Little Big Planet franchise!   Co-op mode included (I'm looking at you Astro Bot - you should've have multiplayer like Astro's Playroom).

This was on of my favorite levels.  Awesome music... and sync to music

@retro junkie - I have not played this one.  I've played several of the other Pokemon titles.  How does this one stack up?  Did you ever finish it?

General Discussion / Re: Agatha All Along - Disney+
March 13, 2025, 05:31:29 PM
no.. I needed to do an update to this as well.  After Episode 2... the series went downhill FAST.   The song they would sing... I'm ok never hearing it again.

I'm hoping there are serious tie-ins with other Marvel shows / movies as this one is up there with the Eternals.

looks like we need a 2025 topic OR the undated master topic.

We have been re-watching the Buzzfeed Mysteries Unsolved.  They're now on Youtube under "Watcher" I believe.  It's just good for a laugh
#15
LOL that's awesome  ;D Well, It is really cool that they support your Video Game hoarding ... I mean... collection  ;D

Game Boy Pocket... it has been some time.  I have an Ice Blue system... if I correctly remember the color.  I believe it came with one of the Pokemon...?  That system had a lot of play.

Unless another issue happens.  I think it's all fixed for good now. I need to work on the theme again.

@mastermario - lol, hey, you decided to drop by?   where have you been? what's the occasion?

@retro junkie man... I lost track of this post again.   That's great you have it working... and these days, I will say you have more patience than me lol.

That's awesome it's working again.  Good deduction as well to the problem.   so... still thinking of Linux as your daily driver like @CreepinDeth ?

I have been using a MacBook lately as a daily driver.  I should make a topic on this.  TLDR, some life events happened recently... so I'm working with this right now.  I can say, I am able to use Linux, Windows OR MacOS for my daily driver LOL.  Still not 100% on the iPad... if it had visual studio code capabilities (without haven't to do it remotely...), I think the iPad would have a potential to take over some tasks.   I was using the iPad integrated with AWS Cloud9... but they have since decided to kill the service.  I still have access, but it will eventually go away. Therefore, I'm looking for something else.

I was talking with @targetrasp a couple weekends ago... and was reminiscing on a few mind blowing games.   Essentially... it's been a very long since a game REALLY immersed or blew my mind.   I think the last game was the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.  That experience was pretty crazy.

While it's not super mind-blowing in the same way, this level is absolutely awesome.  The level "Beat the Heat" is from Sackboy for the PlayStation 5 (PS5).  Sackboy is a platformer style game. The Song played is Jungle Boogie by Kool and the Gang.  The song is looped in a very awesome way to match up to actions in the level.  The effects are matched to the groove of the song.  For example, fireballs in different parts of the level are shot to the beat of the music.  I was in awe of the stage... it's one of the coolest I've seen in a long time.  And the song... it's just an epic song.

Check this level out below:

We still visit a Best Buy here and there. It's usually just to pick up a controller or something.  We used to go here and there to check out the steel book collections LOL.  Yes... I'm steel book junkie  :great:

As far as the Switch, I swap the games out and don't really care.  I get the convenience of digital in that scenario... it makes sense.  But, I still want the physical media and just get up to change the game out.  The only difficulty in my case is finding the game case... lol.

We also visit GameStop's a few times a year (at least) to check out what's there.  There are times they have old retro games... and it's cool to check in on some of their gear.  I've found some cool steelbook finds and other things by randomly visiting (though we have had many busts on the visits as well).  It's just fun to visit.

CD's - I do what I can to get both the mp3 and CD versions.  It is harder to keep all the physical CDs... but even more-so, media players are disappearing. IE on computers, laptops... etc.  Forget it on iPads or other mobile devices where MP3 prevails... for logical reasons.

The thing I don't like about streaming services and digital distribution styles... they can remove content forever.  I know they can remove a product from shelves, but if you buy it (have the money to buy it)... you don't have to worry about that EXCEPT the player for that media - which I question its existence over the next few years.  We will see.

@targetrasp  did you pick this back up?  We are getting ready to watch it again.
#23
@retro junkie Yeah... that is definitely a good routine to keep up for health.  Keep moving.  @Grindspine is right... we have both hit more health issues.  I know it's been a bit harder for me over the last 2-3 years with a few things I encountered as well.

I also get the feeling... "where the heck did it go" and "how did I get here?"  We have been talking about it recently between Grinspine, @SpartanEvolved and also @targetrasp ... where the heck did it go?!   Starcraft 2 came out 15-ish years ago. Starcraft 1 was 27.  We were all gaming not that long ago during LAN sessions... and doing the EGA podcast.  That was almost 20 years ago! What in the world!?!

I miss older formats like this... it seems the world does not.  I wish there was more activity, but again... it seems the world has moved on a bit.  CDG will continue to be here and move forward though!

AND your birthday gaming stash is awesome lol.   :happydance:  :great:   At this point... how do they pick something out for your birthday??

This one didn't take quite as long as the Marvel Super Heroes series.  We 100% Completed / Platinum Trophied Lego Marvel's Avengers for the PS4.

This game follows the Avenges plots and movies.  You play through several classic scenes from the Avengers ... and it's a lot of fun. The sounds are great, music is great... etc.  If Lego games aren't your cup of tea, you may not like this title.  It is, however, one of our favorite Lego games!

If you dig Lego games, give this one a try!  It's pretty awesome.

Done! Done! Onto the next one!  :great:

This is another one that took a few years of off and on play. However, we have 100% Completed / Platinum Trophied Lego Marvel Super Heroes for the PS4.

Again, we didn't complete all the dlc trophies, only the main game.  We may go back and 100% the rest, but it gets to be a lot.

There are a lot of fun moments in this game.  It's cool as you traverse many of the scenes from several Marvel movies... and also creative levels that did not appear in movies.

Glad to be at 100% - it was a fun time.  :happydance:
