Which is it?  Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars
Star Trek

BLUEVOODU

Poll it up -  What do you choose and why?

Star Trek is entertaining (and some of the movies are quite good) but it's seems to blur the lines between space opera and soap opera. Star Wars isn't nearly as Susan Lucci about things.

I voted Star Wars.  I have to say though.... The Star Trek movies of late have been very very good.  Into Darkness was extraordinarily well done.

Simon Pegg as Scotty is brilliant and a perfect cast for the role.  Then again, I like Simon Pegg movies.

Star Trek for me. TV series from the first Trek when it originally aired back in the 60's. ( I was out adjusting the antenna to pick it up) It just got me hooked. The regular series over the years just became established in my brain. It is home. Where I lived. it was my weekly dose of Syfy. it was in my Universe. And the recent movies have been the best.
Star wars on the other hand was movies and games. Liked them, but, I don't know. Those first three movies gave you an experience that cannot be repeated. No way you can repeat that feeling when you was in the theater and that opening battleship passed over your head, or the first time you saw those walkers. Star Wars was an experience that you never had until the 70's. There was nothing like it. Now every movie after that has been just a part of the story, but Far Far Away. Doesn't have the same impact.

I know what you mean on Star Wars... they've really tried to recapture that Imperial Star Destroyer flying over head.  I didn't get to see it in theatres until the remakes with additional scenes.

I really likes Episodes 1, 2, and 3... many don't agree... but I thought they were great movies and enjoyed watching them.

As of late, it appears they (producers) struggled to come up with a direction.  This would be post sale Star Wars.   Rian Johnson and J. J. Abrams didn't collaborate their story lines... At least that's the word on the street.  Not sure how you're given something like Star Wars and you don't collaborate the versions to T.

Star Trek... I loved the last 3 movies.  Every movie has been done well AND There's not much to complain about.   Some people had issues with Star Trek Beyond (last movie released).  But... I liked it.

There has to be more opinions on this topic :)

Grindspine

They both suck  ;D

Now I am going to go play with a lightsaber though after I answer this call on my 1960s style flip phone.

mastermario

Love them both, but gotta go with Star Wars. Love the concept of the Jedi and the Force. And lightsabers are badass. And the expanded universe is very interesting also.

I also enjoy the recent Star Trek movies, but I'm super pissed off that the new Star Trek show is only available on CBS's shitty streaming service. There's no chance in hell I'd ever pay for that.

I voted Star trek. I just can't get into Star wars no matter what I do. I've seen episodes 1-3 and like bits and pieces of the original trilogy but haven't seen any of the recent movies.

Star trek, on the other hand, I've seen a good chunk of the movies, and I watched all of Enterprise. Nothing can beat the theme song.

I know what you mean. I am not going to pay either. Even though I would love to watch, I'll wait for the DVD set.

Well, there's your problem haha. The original trilogy is TONS better than episodes 1-3. Give them another shot. :)

man... there is some serious Star Wars hate out there.   At times I felt bad for Lucas.... sometimes you just can't please everyone or anyone... if you're referring to Star Wars

targetrasp

He shot the moon with the original  trilogy.

It happens to a lot of my favorites. tarantino, kevin smith, arnofosky, Ritchie - all had fabulous movies and then after about the third they just fell off. Tarantino may have more than three, and I'll admit to liking all of Kevin Smiths flicks but it's hard to name more than three good ones. Heck, look at Guy Ritchie, outside of Snatch and Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels you've gotta dig deep.... Sherlock Holmes?!

Granted none of those have had a fraction of the success Lucas has but it seems like a pattern. Think Linkin Park...

BLUEVOODU

Man... Linkin Park's 1st 2 albums were great.    The Live concert with Jay-Z was pretty cool as well... There's a good series of them on Youtube.

Shot the moon is right - and no on thought that was going to happen lol  :))  What... the original Obi Wan Kenobi (I think it was) didn't want to anything to do with it afterwards.  Bad mistake.

Kevin Smith is a great example of this as well.  I went to see him once in the Pabst Theatre lol... and he said "I can't make movies like that anymore... life has progressed... I'm not in the same scenarios.  I was broke and poor back then.. things have panned out now."  That's not a verbatim quote by the way.

Jack

Had to go with Star Wars on this one. Although the latest Trek movies are pretty damn good.
